Just thought i'd post this as i know loads of people now have a GoPro (including me as of christmas day, woop woop).

Its a really simple GoPro mount for the comanche made from 15mm x 2mm aluminium strip (less than 2 quid for enough to make at least 4 from B&Q).

I won't bore you with the details of twisting and bending it 'cos its pretty obvious from the photo's but i will tell you about why i chose 15mm.

If you look at the photo's there is one of a loading pad with no mount. This is how they are new. You will see there are 3 strips (or 2 grooves) in it. I removed (with a craft knife and some sand paper) the middle strip and the 15mm ally (with some sanding and persuasion) fits snuggly in between the other 2. there is plenty of space to put 2 good bolts through to hold it in place (the ones in the picture are just for test purposes).

It seems fairly sturdy (only moving slightly with a bit of pulling and pushing) so i should be ok in the tide).

The gap between the edge of the ally and the top and bottom strip of the gun butt in the picture are where i have filed the mount edge in that area so i can add some paint and plasticoat. i also intend to add rubber washers to the GoPro connection end just to make it a grippy, snug fit.

P.S. If you're wondering about the moded housing i can tell you its based on this:

but thinner (and hopefully neater). I have tested it in the sink for water tightness but it still needs a proper sea trial.

looks good Chris; will it affect loading the gun?
Maybe try a local chandlery for stainless nuts/bolts?

Looking forward to seeing some video... :)

Cheers. I may try that on my comanche. Really keen to have something that is easy on / off. Looks like a quick easy solution.

Does any one know if the barrel end of the comanche is solid where there are two screws which attatch the line clips (which most dont use). I was thinking of drilling these out to create a hole which went through the shaft at this point. I would fit in the hole a short section of brass tube for rigidity and turn a shaft that would slide into this hole with a collor. Threaded at one end it would be quick to secure with a nut. I only want to try it if its solid as do not want to risk getting water in the barrel.

I like the idea of something I can easily remove or put on in the water with no tools.

No Pav, it's not solid. It's plugged by the handle at that point but the barrel is just a tube. You may get away with it by splashing lots of sealant about though.

Other problem with that design is it would put the camera right where your hand needs to go on loading.
