I'd think a dolphin -tubular shape would be smoother, in terms of fastest most efficient swimming; as far as olympic competition this is probably close to optimum, depends a bit on the stroke though.
Lot of 'pocket' turbulence could be reduced with a torpedo or teardrop shape.
