Really hard to tell from that picture :)
Do you know more about it; anything?

A vague guess: Ivan Shakov, Hyperfins.ru

Best regards H!

Looks like a hyperfin to me. The leaderfins often have black footpockets, but other features are different. Not sure I'd call them the best monos out there, but they're decent.

Thanks...i guess these are the leaderfins after all--of the purely russian type. From looking just now at other threads regarding the leaderfins I'd agree that these are not the best in terms of quality and performance.

I'm not sure if any ONE fin really can be the best anyway. I'm sure that each different monofin will be different to everyone.

That being said i believe that the W.W.Glide seems to have the most positive reviews of the top dogs of monofins.

@Eric Fattah, you are one of the few deep divers that have the DolFin Orca, which is a different genre of current monofins. Are you using it now as your main training fin? I wanted to ask you specifically as compared to your other regular deep-diving monofins regarding the ascent. Do you feel (propulsion) the power of the finning motion moving you up or is it so efficient that you don't feel like you are working? Can I say that with your regular monofins you certainly feel the fins displacing water as you rocket up (propulsion)?

That's a bit oxymoron, since Leaderfins are not a Russian, but an Estonian company. Although there are many Russians living in Estonia, I would not recommend you telling anyone in Estonia that they are Russians. They could get very upset :)

I've heard a rumour that Leaderfins subcontract their better monofins in Ukraine. Well, same difference. Most of them are made there anyway.

What I've heard is that there are two Russian monofin manufacturers that are more famous than others. Andronov and Salmin. Also it seems that getting their monofins is next to impossible. I've seen one real Andronov monofin in use and it wasn't that much different compaired to the better monofins that it would have been head and shoulders above them.

I still believe that if the monofin has enough of angle, a blade that is stiff or soft enough for the diver and doesn't do the V thing too badly and footpockets that fit well, any brand will do the trick. In my case, Starfins have been repeatedly closest to my needs.

All of his hypers are customs. I have some sort of a Freediving hyper. The idea is to send Starfins your measurements with some sort of preferences what the monofins should be like and what sort of use it'll see. Alexandr will give you some suggestions what he has come up. Then you say what you think of his ideas and he'll make you a suitable monofin. At least this has worked with me now three times in a row so I'm not complaining.

I have a medium blade with a lot of blade angle. I have tried few hypers and owned some and my biassed opinnion is that Starfins are among the best monofins out there at the moment. At least for me they suit better than others.

I am using the Orca exclusively these days. On the ascent I don't really feel the push of the fin. Instead I seem to move for no reason at all.

Thanks Eric... I'm asking because I have the DolFin Classics, which after getting the technique is easy to dive with and is super comfortable, however I also don't feel the push of the fin from depth but also don't seem to ascend any faster than I otherwise do with fins. You have the Orcas but i really wonder if they are all-that-much different than the Classics. At any rate, I'll devote more time to testing them.

May I ask you what monofin you were using before as in your picture here: http://media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ljkeq9BeFu1qzb81e.jpg

I have a Leaderfin here beside me and the trailing edge is not straight like the one in your photo Spearo.

The laminated rubber over the leading edge the and foot pockets look fairly similar, but the Leaderfin I have has the rubber protection for the leading edge continuing further down the blade than your one.

Dunno. I have only seen about five monofins in my life

There is quite a bit of difference between the DOL-Fin Orca and the Classic in terms of overall efficiency, effort and distance per stroke covered with the fin. The HP modifications remove a lot of that difference in efficiency, but is still a very different feeling fin than the Orca. In fact the HP feels a lot more like the Classic than it does the Orca, but the HP takes about 20% less effort to do the same amount of useful swimming work as is required with the Classic. Alternatively, the HP is about 10% faster than the Classic on the same power input. These improvements are due to the span efficiency gains realized from the raked fin tips and the new trim setting of the fin blade.

This is a monofin from Novosibirsk, Russia. I took this picture. I am not sure, but i think it is a monofin from one Russian master named Suhov. I tried this monofin, and it is a LOOT better than glide. It has tailored footpockets also. 27degrees angle.

Hey,
i am using a triton monofin Triton Underwater Sport Equipment
I am happy with it, but i think GLIDE monofin has a better , more responsive blade.

I tried the Suhov hyperfin. From my prospective this is the best monofin, period.

The costs for this monofin is 360eur + shipping+ customs. You can not get it cheaper, because it is a speciality monofin handmade (not a mass production).

It is also very hard to get... You can not buy it on the internet or in shops. If you know some people, who now some people...

Oh man, I bought a used monofin like this few days before. I took it from a National record holder in static, who took it from the National record holder in No Limits who took it from Natalia Molchanova. Although it is a bit big for me using socks fits ok but not extremely tight on my feet. I feel that indeed is a very good monofin.

If it wasnt good Natalia and Alexey would use another..

Here it is with a big Only One sticker on!

Do you Spearo The Hero know if you can buy from this site?? There is no English version on the website and it might be hard enough to proceed with an order unless Russian is your native language...

I also think that Fede Mana used the same fin in his 100m CWT record..
