Have any of you tried this? Surface swimming while holding your breath? I did this a few days ago and I could barely do 25m. I guess its because theres more resistance at the surface. Man, it was a hell of a workout. By the way, 50m is getting very easy. I am to the point that I am really considering turning around and starting back and shooting for 75m. Apnea Walking Works!

I've done exercises like this in the past... it's good training for the arms especially when doing apnea front crawl - very good for free immersion - because it's a similar action. It's possible to do 125m+ like this- probably over 150 with specific training. The other good thing is that it can be done in pools that frown on swimming underwater. People think you're just another swimmer clocking up the lengths, and don't even realise you're not breathing! :t
(Of course, it's probably not a good idea to do long apneas in regular swimming sessions, even with a buddy. Black-outs wouldn't go down too well with the life-guards!)

I tried it a few times just for fun. That's the way I managed to do my first 100m with bi-fins but right after that I also managed doing 100m with bi-fins in full immersion.
