Surfer, looking to learn to dive free and deep ...

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I live in Venice Beach, I surf and have been fascinated with free-diving since I was born. I never knew depths were possible until my recent discovery of the sport. I have been watching videos and reading magazines and books for the past month.

I would like to know what classes are recommended by this community, that are in my area. Also I would like to make friends to obtain a possible dive partner for the future.

Hi Anthony,
I've been surfing and kiting for years and just discovered freediving too, totally hooked just like the surf gets ya ;-)
You can learn a lot from books or videos but a course was one of the best things I did if only to confirm many of the things I was doing right and correct some of those I could do better. At first I couldn't find anyone round my area or any courses, but kept looking and found both including a group of apnea-heads, so keep looking. Look for AIDA or Apnea Academy.

Awesome! Thanks for the response, Mr. Jomac. I found a place called freedivenspear in Hermosa, they have a certification class that I am planning on taking. I will be on the lookout for the group in my local area.
