Just FYI- I ordered a Suunto D3 for $197, free shipping a few minutes ago. Apparently they only have a few left in stock. Full warranty and West Marine also has a good customer satisfaction reputation.

Now I have to find a cheap download cable.

Jim

Thanks Jim. I've been wanting one of those. Only 7 left when I ordered.

geez, nothing like a spur of the moment purchase. Thanks..... I think.
Fred

ahh... why don't they accept paypal :head :vangry
Even with shipping to Germany its still 90€ cheaper than subprof/scubastore.

dang.

Mine is on it's way.
where can i buy the usb interface (cheap). I followed that link but i don't have the props and the skill to build it (i could try :)). anyone selling that DIY already made?

Thanks Jim. Just ordered one. I've been researching them but hadn't pulled the trigger yet. Just needed a little push which you provided. I've been scuba diving for 20 years, but have just recently become interested in Freediving. I'm looking forward to training and eventually shooting some fish.

Thanks for the info, just ordered one. Even after shipping to Canada its about 200$ cheaper than at the local dive shop (considering taxes).

I just finished the PFI clinic yesterday and during that time I dove with a d3 for the first time and it was very useful, from both a performance and safety point of view. I just wasn't excepting to buy one in the spur of the moment like that, although this is one impulse buy I don't think I will regret (if only they could all be like that).

Word of caution: mine came in yesterday with no display. I changed batteries and it seems fine now. Since these were clearance items, I suspect that they were pretty old. Having a spare battery and o-ring handy might be a good idea.

I'll keep my fingers crossed.
By the way, did they send an email to confirm that the watch was shipped? I put my order through on Wednesday, immediatly got an email confirming the payment and it said they were going to send another email with the tracking number once it's shipped. If I don't hear from them by tomorrow afternoon I think I'll give them a call.

check your order status! Mine is "Item back ordered" wich means that they ran out of d3 and now have to order more. For this it will take more time but we proabbly wont have cdavis problem (i hope)

I sent an e-mail asking when it would ship. They sent me the following reply:

I'm not going to let them off the hook that easily. I replied that Suunto is still manufacturing it and I want them to "Un-cancel" my order and honor their advertised price. I'll let you know what they say.

It looks like if they haven't shipped you one, you're not going to get one:rcard:

The D3 doesn't show up in their website now. Mine shipped last Thursday and is supposed to hit my door tomorrow.

what it got some days ago was this:

Fernando-

We appreciate your order and apologize for the delay. We hope to receive Watch in time to meet your shipping deadline. If not, I will email and ask for your alternate address.

Shity, I called them this morning and they're apparently out of stock:rcard. I would have appreciated a notice or something. Looks like I'm not the only one who got screwed over.
Now the search for the lowest priced D3 starts all over again.

got mine today.. dead battery, but I have spare... I'll check it out before I go diving again.

Mine arrived. Dead battery as others have mentioned.

I forgive them though. I thought I was just getting the watch with rubber band.

It came with the rubber band.
It came with the neoprene band.
It came with the computer link cable!!!!!

All for $212 including shipping.

You all know what a deal that is. My wife on the other hand...

Jim

Seems to be a few dead batteries - when they arrive brand new they should not be activated, you press all the buttons at once to do this.

Give that a go before you go out and buy new ones.

Cheers,
Ben

This is beginning to look like not quite the deal it started as.

On battery- Yes it was dead as dead can be. Replaced it for $5.10. I didn't get a new cover and O-ring. I figured since it hasn't been out of the box there won't be any grit or damage to the old ring.

Here's the bigger problem-
When I went to Suunto.com to register the warranty I got a message that units manufactured more than 2.5 years ago aren't eligible for warranty coverage. I understand they don't want people to wait until it breaks before registering but I see no mention of this in the manual. Certainly there are probably dive shops that move product very slowly and might have "new old stock" lying about.

I sent inquiries to both Suunto and West Marine on this issue. I'll post the results here.

Jim
