Hi all
I need to buy a brand new diving watch and I endup that Suunto D4 and Mares Nemo Apneist are the best in the market at moment. The think is that I'm a bit confused about it,I been reading old posts but none wrote a good rewiew about it.Before to spend the money I would consider pros & cons. Hope you can help me.
All the best.

I have a D4 and it is nothing but brilliant.I used to have a D3 and the D4 is so much better in built quality and functions.

Never seen the Mares but you won't be unhappy with the D4:)

depends what you are after, if dedicated freedive computer then the F10 is ideal (only freediving functions) martin Stepanick along with a couple of other divers helped with the design and functions. and bang for buck it will be unbeatable. however if you want a combination freediving and scuba computer then the D4 i think is the go. but again it is substantially more expensive than the soon to be avaiable F10.

Love my D4. Like Glowworm, I used to have a D3 but the new one is so much better. More attractive as a watch as well, so you can wear it out of the water without having a toytown bit of blue or orange strapped to you!

Never seen / tried the Mares, though.

Thanks everybody for your raccomandations guys and sorry if I did't reply immediately but I wanted to test my new toy. After a couple of week thinking about it I went for the Mares Apneist,I know the most of you (99%)raccomended the Suunto D4 and i belive it is a very good computer. But I had a couple of private message of apneist raccomending me about the mares so I went for it.The main characteristics that actracted me is the good looking and stainless still case the second is that is built only for Apneist and spearos for the rest I compared it with Chris (Fishfox) and as the same stuff that all of us need. One extras is that you can set it up for Apnea training but I dont even know how it works becouse I dont do it at moment but could be useful for the future. i also have to say that I love it's big green color screen easily readable. Now I'm testing it if is a long lasting toy as it's the Suunto that as been tested from tousand of people,I hope it is.So at moment I've to say that is high raccomandable.
Thanks again guys :thankyou.

Hey Mate. Im looking to purchase a freediving watch and was loking at either the new suunto d-4 or the mares nemo apneist.I was just wondering about what you thought of your mares now that you have had it for a while. Any feedback would be appreciated.

cheers mate.

Hi Macmoley,
I'm very very happy with it and I would buy it again withouth thinking twice another good issue from this watch is that after every session you can turn it off so you can save the battery for longer when you dont use it. Stilished and different from the other diving watch I simply love it. For the rest has I said before the functions should be more or less the same from other diving watch.Anyway I understand that the choice is difficult when it came to spend quite a lots of money.
All the best
Toni

Macmoley, you can compare the data sheets of both computers here:

http://apnea.cz/computers.html?computerID=4,18

The Nemo Apneist is not quite easy to find. Not available in many stores. Often they may offer you the Nemo Excel instead - it has the same case, it is not even much more expensive, and similarly to the D4 offers also scuba modes, but the 4s minimal sampling rate is rather too high for analyzing profiles. If you do not plan buying the IRIS interface for downloading profiles to your PC (it's more expensive that the data cable for Suunto), then it plays no big role. And if you think you may want trying some scuba diving in future, it may be even a better choice. Compare all three of them here: http://apnea.cz/computers.html?computerID=4,5,18

And of course, there are also other choices. See the full list of 35 computers with freediving mode here: APNEA.cz - Freediving Computers
