I wear the band that came with the D3, padded nylon fabric with a velco clasp.
It's kind of funky looking, with the end of the band sticking out at odd angles, but very comfortable and easy to adjust. Its bulky enough that drag is probably significant. I've looked at other bands, but this one seems the most practical for me.
