Take Apart, Adjustable BW Float

Here's another idea I've been playing with. Seems all the BW floats out there aside from $$$ are quite cumbersome to travel with. I put together this float with some pvc pipe & fittings and some floats from Boaters World. Just a prototype for now, working on a dive flag (removable) option. The system can be set up from 1 -3... depending on the condition and fish...working on a spandex cover with pockets to wrap it with.

Whataya all think ideas, suggestions, input?

Nice nice! How would you test their weight capacity? I think there is only one way to do this! get as much fish as you can and hang them from the floats, continue to fill, till buoys completely submerge. rofl

ahahaa don't I wish that was the case.

Are those solid core floats/bumpers or are they the air filled ones? How they seem like they would not create too much drag on the surface but how many pounds of lift do you think you can get from each float? You are thinking of this as an actual float system right or just a stringer float like the "cuban missle" is suggesting? You never know this wheel could actuall roll.

they're foam filled solid floats, the drag is minimal, #'s lift about 10-12, and the system would be used as a float (fish stopping) system, but its quite versatile the back end can hold a Dive Flag, and ultimately it will have a full body cover with pockets...lift can be increased (bigger floats) but by no means am I thinking 200# tunas

It seems like it could work with an nice bungie added on. I think the streamline shape of the floats will help reduce the chance of the shaft tearing out when and if the floats go for a ride under water. Are you thinking of a weight pocket on the bottom to prevent roll over when you want your dive flag up? It does seem as though it would roll pretty easy. But I like it even more for the fact that someone is thinking outside the box!! "Necessity is the Mother of Invention" And not spending 200 - 300 bucks for a decent float is a necessity!!

Let me know how it turns out. I just ordered my Norprene and 1400lb test braided kevlar line for make my own bungie. I can make my own for about 1/2 the cost.
