Taking Spearguns through KLIA

Hi There fellow spearfishermen and women
Im traveling to Philippines for a spearfishing expidition and stopping over at Kuala Lumpur Int. Airport (KLIA) for a few hours en route. I would really like to take my speargun along, but heard there are problems with checking in a speargun at KL... Does anyone have any guidance or experience on how to take a speargun through KLIA?
