tearduct eq problem?

Hi all,
Last 3 days I've had lots of problems equalization, with orange mucus
coming out of my nose, lots of pain and discomfort in left ear and complete
left ear block around 10 meters deep. This morning I tried dry equalization
and I felt that *all* the air that should have gone to my left middle ear through the tubes, actually comes out through my tearduct (SP?) !!!
No surprise I didn't feel the need of equalizing my mask...
My right ear behaved normally, popping and being filled with the air crushed
with my tongue.

Anyone has a reasonable explanation of this? What's happening here???

I have noticed that when I have a cold, flu, or any other infection of the nose/sinuses, my tearducts fill with air very easily. I can easily push air through them when this happens. I normally can't do this at all. This doesn't have anything to do with diving, as it has happened for many years now.

When I have this problem, the air collects under the skin, so it feels 'bubbly'. It may affect one or both sides. I haven't heard of anyone else describing anything similar.

I don't know why this is, because I would have expected that when there is swelling of the tissues caused by an infection, the tearducts would be more closed, not more open.

There was a thread here somewhere that mentioned tearduct equalization (not in the topic I think) and such, you two are not alone.
Try using the search function, it might have included goggles and/or handsfree equaliztion, it should be a few years old.

hey!!! i thought it was just me... my left tearduct blows out air from time to time when i blow my nose or equalize...especially if i am a little congested.
good to know i am not the only one!

i have never looked into it, sometimes it gets a little mucus coming out too. (that was helpful during my mask removal exercises as it created a bubble and i could see clearly! rolf rofl )
