I started freediving in 2006 and since 2007 I have experienced some problems with my teeth. In 4 different occasions I damaged teeth while eating; last one was broken completely and had to be removed. My dentist asked me if I put pressure on my teeth as some people do in their sleep. This I do not do but I started thinking and I think that in occassion, while freediving, i put pressure on my teeth to release the tension from contractions. I wonder if this has been experienced by other freedivers and whether this pressure on teeth while freediving is indeed associated with teeth problems.

I have thought about the same thing, but not sure how much extra pressure the contractions give to teeths compared with eating and other dayly activities.
There are special teeths protection tools for nigths, may be they can be used for apnea training also.

Thanks for the feedback. I tried to monitor the pressure I employ and I think that it is not much bigger than the normal eating pressure. My concern was that I may not realize the high pressure because of reduced clarity from hypoxia but I think that if that was the case I should have experienced some pain after the dive.

I thought about the protection tool that is used in sleep cases and I would like to try it but I wonder whether it is appropriate for safe under water usage.
