Hello, I have a question about diving training vocabulary. I am translating a German short story about a freediver and it mentions a breathing exercise called "Strömungsatmung." Strömungsatmung seems to be a very common exercise for German freedivers, as I find it all over the internet. But I can't seem to find an equivalent English term, or even one that fits the description. It involves constantly making a sound (frication) while breathing.
Does anyone have any idea of what this specific term might be? I've translated a complete description below.
I really appreciate any help I can find. It would be great to be able to make this story as authentic and accurate as possible.
Best regards,
Amanda
Strömungsatmung
Inhale slowly with constant frication. Expand your abdomen gradually during inhalation, filling your lungs to about 80%. Then make a short pause in breathing, for about two seconds. Keep the breathing passages open during this time! Now slowly exhale with constant frication. Pull your flanks in and empty your lungs as much as possible. After exhaling pause with empty lungs for about two seconds.
