Hey guys, anyone on DB going for the comp? It's being held from the 10 - 13th of Feb 2010. Apparently it's being hosted by Martin Stepanek too.

The comp will be run by Blue Planet Divers, the company Sanso is working for. Their location is Koh Lanta.

Anyone going? I'll be in Thailand from the 7 - 13 for the event, or at least that's what I'm planning. Nothing's comfirmed till I but]y my ticket, which I want to do soon.

Laurent, thanks for letting us know.

Anyone who's going can look me up!

Great news! I hope more of the top divers will join. And I also hope it will trigger more interest for freediving on the Asian continent. Would be great if you managed to push a press release about it to some Asian news agency.

You should also try sending the announcement to AIDA Japan, and perhaps to some local Thai and Asian diving federations. Japan is currently the only non-Mediterranean Asian country in AIDA Assembly, so it would be nice to promote freediving and AIDA among other Asian nations too.

Does the comp still have a depth limit of about 55m? If that is the case, I doubt that it will attract a lot of top divers for competing, but it would be great if some big profiles could come to promote the sport and attract new divers from the area. And I hear that Koh Lanta is a beautiful place. :)

Yes there is still a depth limit. However, I think it's because they couldn't find anywhere deeper. That would require travelling much further out.

This competition is supposed to be fun, not a record breaking one. Meant for freediving to gain more exposure and people to have fun.

Hey guys,

We will have very soon some update on the type of disciplines. We will definitely add more spice to the competition as there is a depth limitation (55m). Soon it will be exposed on our blog and on AIDA website.

If you wish to be ranked: any AIDA athletes need to sign-up and pay membership to one of the National AIDAs there are all over the world, only when they are members of and National AIDA you will have valid results for the international ranking.

Hope to see many of you there !

Any Australians going for the comp? I saw Sydney freedivers in Laurent's email. Wonder if I could ask a favour from ya.
