I’m off on honeymoon to Thailand (with the misses of course) in July. I’ve done a good bit of snorkelling here in Ireland and when ever I’m on holidays, I do it for fun and used to do a lot more but have gotten into surfing, still get out 4 or 5 times a year here. I’ve no problem going 10 meters but only for a shot time.

Looking at going to Koh Toa but everything I’ve read so far is either Scuba or Freediving, I wouldn’t mind learning a bit about it so that I can say down longer more than go deep. But I can do that here and I don’t think herself would be into freediving, she OK snorkeling has done some before and not into scuba. Any recommendations on Koh Toa and where to go / not go, any other Islands?

No idea mate, but good luck with the wedding and enjoy the honeymoon ;)

Hi
I went to Koh Toa when I did a round the world trip a few years back, went on a snorkeling trip to some island which is actually two seperate small islands joined by a strip of beach.
It was great snorkling with some deeper sections and loads of different types and sizes of fish including a few Barracuda.
I remember being told it's one of the cheapest places to learn to dive.

regards
Craig

Just back, stayed in koh toa for 4 nights, got a hotel called Dusit Buncha which is about 5 mins in a taxi from the main beach but on it’s door step there is great snorkelling, lots of soft coral and fish of every colour. Sea temp it like warm soup. The hotel was opposites from the two islands (actually 3 but from the shore it looks like two) There’s a dive spot called the Japanese gardens there which is lots of soft coral and is easy to snorkel depth is between 1 and 6 meters vis was perfect, best I’ve ever seen. You can’t bring fins onto the islands.

Took a try dive with Bans dive shop / school to a different bay, don’t know the name but has a ball for my first time with scuba, great instructors and well run place. Meet a few Irish lads who were staying in Ban’s resort and said the accommodation was great.

Would love to go back and did think about doing an open water but that wouldn't be a cool thing to do on your honeymoon.
