Great to see all the talented divers in this community. I grew up Diving in the Monterey Bay, which houses 50 different species of rock cod. Most of the fish are bland in color but edible. My 1st dive at age 11, (a few sunsets back)We had an earthquake. I stayed down until the water settled. The instructor thought I was a goner! He was glad to see me at the surface! My life is diving, working and family. I dive mostly the warmer water of Catalina Island.( warm compared to Monterey). I'm expanding upon my spearfishing skills and species. I'd like to hunt tuna this year. Best of luck to you all & thanks for having me.

Welcome to Deeperblue! I've done a bit of diving in Monterey, though it was purely sightseeing.

It's been an interesting couple of years for sportfishing in So Cal. Have you read Bill McIntyre's posts? Very informative. Check 'em out in the USA/Canada subforum, or in the Spearfishing sub.
