Been spearing now for a couple of weeks and have found this site to be invaluable for us beginners so thanks!

We have been shore diving from various locations along the coast from the River Tamar to the River Erme in Devon and between three of us have managed to catch and eat our way through 3 Pollack, 3 bass and a mullet which has lead to a spearfishing addiction.

One thing we are having trouble with is spotting flatties so any hints or tips on what to look out for would be great...

Thanks again

Mate , you wrote Sea***** by mistake , I'm sure you meant Sea bream or some such .
As for flatties , keep searching and searching , look-out for protruding eyes and flatfish shaped indents in the sand , but then I'm no expert and others may have better advice for you .
Good luck .
regards ,
Dave .

Thanks for the help - Hoping to get in this weekend as the forecasts look pretty good, will see if I can get something tasty.

Cheers

One thing about spotting flatfish is once you have your eye in they come a lot easier but they are not always difficult to spot as many lie on the bottom completely uncovered & stand out like a sore thumb.
You need to find a likely spot like a nice clean sandy bottom just on the edge of some tide.
