The BlueSkunk Bubble Ring Challenge 2005

The first event of its kind finally drew to a close. BlueSkunk Freedivers hereby proudly announce that:

The BlueSkunk Bubble Ring World Champion 2005 is non other than freediving superstar:

Herbert Nitsch

He was rightfully awarded this title after an internal investigation, initiated after a protest, disclosed that competitor ChristianRedl, the candidate with the most votes, actually misused his powers of judging by voting multiple times for himself which led to his eventual disqualification from the event.
Herbert Nitsch won this challenge with a staggering 27 votes ahead of his closest rival. It has to be acknowledged yet again that Mr Nitsch is indeed an athlete of extraordinary ability. We bow our heads in awe! May the sun forever shine on this blessed individual and may his example guide us into a bright future.

Official results:

1.place herbert
2.place turtle
3.place immerlustig

Honorary mentions for supreme bubble rings go to:

sansan for the biggest
er453r for the zen-est
octopus for the purest
watts for the coldest
apneannelie for the creative-est

The organizers wish to extend a warm ‘thank you’ to everyone who participated and helped to make this event possible. It also shows that the art of bubble rings is alive and well.

Hopefully we meet each other again for the next bubble ring challenge, scheduled September 2006.

Until then, peace and harmony, everybody.

…and bubble on!

Roland

p.s.: Look out for an upcoming interview with the winner!

:)

If I'll ever meet Herbert the most important freediving technique I'll ask him to teach me will be bubbleringery!

Congrats :friday

Well done Herbert! :king

I'll have to learn to do bubble rings, I haven't even tried yet!

Awesome, congratulations to the winners. Can we expect this to be a yearly event? We need more of these informal competitions.

Congratulations to the winner and to all bubblering-makers! Maybe everyone who can make a bubblering is a winner of a sort ;)
I'm already looking forward to this years contest!

Thanks Immerlustig for a good organization and effort in making the competition, and for the encouragement in the noble art of bubbleringmaking.

Way to go Herbert!

I was there for you all the way man, just hoping and praying for you!

Peter P ;-)

Funny how a minor exercise in friendship in a small forum in a tiny sport can reveal so much about a person's personality.

Unfortunately I have become a Mentor here and can't throw the sarcasm as I once did, so I leave it to my DB sisters and brothers :t
Peace,
Erik Y.

You are just a jealous person!
Maybe it's because you will never be a multiple world champion and worl record holder in freediving. Give Redl the credit he deserves!

Irony is a 5 letter word...

And ironing is a 7 letter word :head
Are you angry because I have pointed out Redl's actions? How does that make me a jealous person? I could care less about world championships in any sport- I grew out of that.
Redl's a world champion? At what? 50 metre No-Limits dives? Self-promotion? That towed-under-ice stunt? Cheating in a BUBBLE-RING CONTEST? :duh Wow, what a hero, I'm certainly jealous of that sort of character.
I have given him the credit he deserves by stating his actions, the same I would do for any person so insecure as to cheat on a 'contest' initiated solely out of friendship and a sense of community.
Maybe you should find someone new to worship :inlove
Erik Y.
ps- Mcintyre, I guess I eat some of my words at this point

irony may be a 5 letter word, but sarcasm has 7... ;)

ps: congrats to Herbert. they're all excellent photos.
