DeeperBlue.net Calendar Photo Competition

What it's all about

DeeperBlue.net is launching a 2004 Calendar, and after much discussion we thought it would be great to feature photography from our members.

Prizes

There are 13 possible winning entries (one for each month plus one on the cover of the calendar). Those 13 winners will each get a DeeperBlue.net T-Shirt and a copy of the Calendar. They will also be entered into a draw for the Grand Prize.

The Grand Prize is a place on a Performance FreeDiving clinic with Kirk Krack, Martin Stepanek and the rest of the PFD Team. The place will be on a 2004 clinic of the winners choice *Subject to availablity

Judging Process

Judging will take place once the competition has closed, by a panel consisting of editorial and forum staff : Stephan Whelan, Cliff Etzel, Paul Kotik and Sven Anderson (icarus pacific).

The photos need to be aquaticly themed, although they do not need to be specifically orientated to FreeDiving, Scuba, Spearfishing or Technical Diving.

When the deadline for receiving entries has passed, all entries will be examined and judged by the panel. Shortly after the winner will be announced in this thread and on the main DeeperBlue.net site.

How to enter

To enter the contest, you need to submit your photo to Stephan Whelan along with your DeeperBlue.net Forums username. Once we have received your entry we will post your name and thumbnail of your entry in this thread. Only when your photo is up in this thread is it entered into the competition. DO NOT post your entries directly to this thread

Technical Details

To be used in a calendar the photo needs to be of sufficient quality to be reproduced on a print calendar. The image sizes will be published at 11.5 x 9 inches at a minimum resolution of 150 DPI.

This means that your photos need to be high quality, high resolution to be considered. Images that do not scale to the correct size will not be considered for entry.

You also need to be a registered DeeperBlue.net Forum member and your entry must not be obscene or illegal.

Terms & Conditions
  • Judges' decision is final.
  • No correspondence will be entered into.
  • No entries will be accepted after the closing date and time specified.
  • No cash alternative to advertised prize.
  • We reserve the right to substitute the prize stated with one of an equal or lesser value.
  • Staff may enter.
  • You may enter as many times as you wish.
Deadline for Submission

The deadline for submitting entries is the 31st October 2003, at midnight GMT.

And Finally...

This competition is meant to be a means for all of the people involved to have fun and perhaps learn a little. So with that in mind, have fun and please don't be afraid to enter. We look forward to seeing your entries.

And most importantly, Good luck!

How many times can you enter?

Can I submit a photo that I have already posted in the gallery?

Jon

Stephan,

Great idea, I'm sure that it will be a stunning calendar.

I'm assuming that the 11.5 X 9 refers to height X width?

So only vertically oriented images will be considered?

After Adrian's question, I'm still confused. Is the format of the callendar to be 11.5" wide by 9" high?

The format will be 11.5" wide and 9" high, although portrait photos will be accepted as well as they can be cropped in certain examples.

We have had around 8 more entries that i've yet to put up, but they will be uploaded by the end of the week.

Cheers!
