With the Portland being the venue for the 2012 sailing events, I thought I would start this thread to try and give guidance on what this means to boat users and shore spearfishing in the Weymouth Portland area.

If you have a boat and wish to launch and use it within Weymouth Bay or Portland Harbour (I'm guessing this also includes kayak's) during the Olympics (6th July - 14th September 2012) you will find you can’t! Although I think the majority of the ‘lock down’ will only happen during the actual racing dates (27th July-12th August & 29th August-9th September)

I’m still trying to find out about shore diving, but I suspect someone dressed in black carrying a gun entering the water during racing, will not be a welcome sight and you should expect a visit from people carrying larger and more powerful guns!! :crutch :crutch

For more details and all the legal stuff The Portland (The London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games) Harbour Revision Order 2011

Cheers
John

PS> Sorry Podge I think your boat will be stuck on land for a large part of summer 2012 :( :(

Thanks for the info John.
As we thought then, pretty much from the east side of The Bill over to Lulworth is going to be a no go area.
uuummmm that does seem like its going to slow us up a little for next summer.:head:head
