Is there a better / more sustainable use for retired wetsuits rather than just throwing them in garbage?

I've found one use. My wife is a barrel racer. (She and her horse race around barrels). The barrels have sharp edges. A section of wet suit arm or leg to cover the area over conventional shin guards helps save blood.

Hmm, I can immediately think of better solutions to that problem than old wetsuits. But that might be for another community’s forum. Nasty wound, btw. Speedy recovery!

In a similar vein, a protective cover to wrap the barrel, rubbers and spear of your favourite spearguns and keep them neat, tidy and tangle-free?
(If have favourite spearguns ;) )

I actually use my old, holed neoprene socks for this, as my neoprene wetsuits are all still useable, thankfully (although I made extensive wetsuit glue repairs to one after an unfortunate incident being washed onto a rocky reef :(, scary, edge of Bristol Channel, which has the second highest tidal range in the world, not recommended! ;) ).
