and that's why Dave Ness and Dam Nguyen passed up all those big trophy fish to take this little yellowtail and this 20 pound white sea bass.

I was still striving for glory, but it eluded me. I blew an easy shot on a REALLY BIG white. Whites always look a lot bigger than I thought after I get them in the boat. The 59 pounder I shot last week didn't look very big in the water. This one looked very big in the water.

I'm still trying to figure out how I missed. I've decided to go with this. I was aiming for that gill plate shot, but the fish was angled away from me. Maybe it glanced off the gill plate. I was so sure that I hit it that when line didn't start running out, I thought I must have stoned it.

I think I better go for the body shot unless its carefully posed at a right angle.

Now excuse me while I open a beer and a bottle of wine.
