The WASP Knife

A friend of mine sent me a link to the webpage of this knife:

The WASP Injector Knife

There is an amusing video on the site of some guy demonstrating the powerful properties of this knife on a watermelon. Does't look much use for spearfishing (or serving melon) and pricey too.

Still could give peace of mind to those who spear in shark infested waters.


I am not entirely convinced. But then again, I don't really have a knife fetish!

That's a nasty bit of steel! I doubt that'd be legal in Canada, or most places come to think of it.
I would never carry something like that around.

Be great one of those for those touch and go ascents. Don't think your going to make it then you can stab yourself in the arse and no worries, you'll be bobbing on the surface in no time rofl
 
Looks just like an old shark dart- but harder to activate.

Jon's right - just a rip off of the old shark dart rolled into a stupid looking knife. I prefer to repel sharks with harsh language. Its just as effective and does only psychological damage.

prohibited device under canadian law. (or so the lawyer types on another forum I'm a member of say when this knife came up)

I wonder if PADI will have a specialty course for it? :martial
 
wow i was not aware you could make a knife more dangerous ,not only is it really sharp it shoot's deadly freezing gas into your vital organs WTH .they totally just gave street violence a helping hand can't afford a gun stab em with freezing gas in the heart great im never leaving the house again.as for a shark i think i would want more than 5 1/4 inches between me and a hungry predator

Tasers are starting to be issued widely in the UK now. Curious as to what your objection is? (Could probably kill frail people, esp. thise with a heart condition).

Re. the advice on what to do if attacked by a bear. In the US, I was from time to time in bear country & lived not far from mountain lions territory. Having read various articles, advice & TV programs, including from state & national parks, all I can say is "good luck" the jury is still out -- I've seen a lot of contradictory advice. Some say run, some say stay still, some say act dead, some say climb a tree. I have seen counter examples to all of those - including a TV program recounting a bear mauling a guy who acted dead -- fortunately for him, his wife saved his life by whacking the bear hard with something but nasty situation, the bear didn't just give up. I don't think those large cans of mace spray would be enough to stop a very angry/hungry bear for long either. I met a guy from California who said he always packs a large pistol when going into the back country -- might be the best bet? Or a small but large calibre rifle/shot gun. And perhaps a large, pointy knife (Wasp?! bowie or dagger). We just put our food (& toothpaste) in the metal boxes or hung it very high in the trees, and tried to remember to make enough noise so as not to surprise the wildlife (some wear cowbells on their packs for this reason).

BTW Where did Inuit ("eskimos") get their vitamin C in winter?
