Hey that is a good gun. However i am not aware much about prices there.

For $160 I got a Mares Explorer 75cm + Beuchat Float + Beuchat Net + Beuchat Gloves. And Malta is an expensive country :S

75 cm is probably a little short for socal, but not terribly so. great for norcal. I have wished my 90ra was shorter when hunting fish in real low vis. Probably dont need that float and line though. make your own line out of polypro rope to start, ditch the float for manuvering through the kelp. that site has pretty good prices usually.

If I was a new diver, just getting started, I would jump at that deal. pretty hard to beat!

75cm is a very versitile gun.

For that price that stuff is really good.. Don't forget, u should have different size guns anyway...Also, good starting gun sizevise and good brand.....

just a heads up on the safety.
search "omer excalibur review"

You can get little round dive floats v. cheaply off eBay (not Omer tho'). Spearos seem to use bigger torpedo floats normally but I guess the round ones would work ... as long as you don't get too many big fish that sink! Excalibur seems a nice gun - I'd like one - just check what lengths the locals use & recommend.

For float you can make your own very cheaply! If not free from unused stuff.

I made my float which can carry about 50 fishes (meduim sized) and it is very easy to carry, dive with and attached other apparatus to it such as water bottles, extra speargun, forks etc...

You can take a look at it via this thread:

It is very easy to make and saves you some bucks! ;)

Just a quick tip on the float, its advisable, if you go out a fair way to make the float (or buy) so you can sit on it to rest, (or get rescued from:rcard ) the torp inflatables are good but you try sitting on it when your Knackered out, i made mine from the back section of a kiddies car seat(pollyfoam) and varnished it with marine varnish added the few bits for guns and the such. and it semi floats when i sit on it to enjoy the view of the distant coastline.:inlove

Peter.

OOps semi floating, i mean i float with the shoulders and half the chest above the surface.
