hello all,
im looking to get into spearing, and one of the members pointed me in the direction of the mako kits. now my main concerns are how good is this gun for a beginner, and what size gun should i get 120, 130, or 140cm, and what about the band configuration? i will mainly be free diving and shore diving in 15-30 ft of water, around the usual rock piles and other basic structre in that depth. also should i invest in a reel? im not looking to shoot record fish nor am i after blue water species, tho i wouldn't mind jumping a few schoolie dolphin and bonito's when fishing from a buddy's boat...

thanks in advance,
david

All the Mako owners I've heard of are very happy with their guns in terms of bang for the bucks.
I'm just doubtful that such long sizes (120+) may be the best size to start with for an absolute beginner. They are quite big guns, not gonna be easy to load and to handle. Be patient at the beginning, then practice will do the trick.

ok thanks fellas. i will look into it a little more. do you have any other suggestions for gear i should check into before making a final decision?

thanks again,
david

Call up Mako. They will set you up properly for your area and not oversell. At least get their advice and shop around more if you feel you need to.
