I have built four guns previously from timber with bolt on mechs and am now contemplating the next gun(s). they are all beuchat marlin mechs and they are damn good mechs.
For me there is little better than getting fish with a weapon built by your own hand. Also the admiring glances of others when you unveil the one off custom gun is pretty sweet too.
Just looking for inspiration in terms of design. Not keen to go too wild but ideas are always welcome. seems to me some of you guys have been doing it for longer and better than me.
any advice on mechs and handle shaping and attaching would be appreciated.

here is a pic of the current quiver. all made from Tasmanian oak, glued and sealed with west systems 2pak epoxy.
Range from 85cm for my oldest son(8yrs old) 1.1m for my wife and a 1m and 1.3m for me. something for everyone really. just love making this stuff.

Don't know anything about building guns, but those look amazing.
I have this picture in my mind of daddy and mummy spearo with junior spearo all swimming along in a line. :)

Thanks for the comments. appreciate it.
Junior is yet to get himself a fish. lacks a little confidence and not going to force that issue. he will sort it out in time. now has a hand me down open cell suit so comfort is coming on, fingers crossed for his first fish soon.
The whole family diving together is the ideal image really and there is a fourth to come, as yet too young for a gun(5yrs old) but he has already placed his order.
maybe he might get lucky with this build?

couple more pics of the last gun, 'The Primate Aquatic', this a 1m gun with 20mm rubber and 7mm shaft. Lots of punch for a smaller gun. My current favourite for the minute due to the versatility it offers.
And of course the brand. Done for a bit of fun more than anything, people are saying I should sell them but would be hard to part with these babies of mine.
Am sure people understand this emotion? :D

I understand it perfectly. I have build one gun sofar and started to build a second one. It's amiaizing, it's yours, it's perfect and the irreplaceable joy whan you catch fish with it.
Nice guns BTW.

Awesome work there Logan! I believe that Daryl Wong says the same about his guns when he sells them to customers.
The spearo family, thats great. you do have to tell how u got the missus into it.
