I've been at this for less than a year. Thought to share what I've learned.
Fins: for us, more flexible better than too stiff
snorkle: flexible. Loose the clip,use a cable tie lop at back of strap so snorkle is at top of head and rides out of the way during dive
wetsuit: First major purchase. open cell ,two piece. I use eilos most comfortable suit I've ever worn. Get the best you can. Cann't do much if you're not comforable
Weight belt: rubber and worn on hips so not to interfere with breathing
goggles: use for statics with good nose clip. mammalian reflex comes in quicker
Take a class. My money spent with Freediving Instructors International was good investment. Cann't beat having a pro watch over you.
