Hi,

Has anyone found a good way to seal the toes of open toe fins?
This is distinctly a stay warm idea for diving in cool waters. I have tried duct tape, but the seal is not great. I am thinking about gluing some bike inner tube over the opening, but I thought I would ask and see what others might have found. Thanks for the help.

Best wishes,

doug

Nippy toes

I took a pair of oldish booties (no holes - just old) and plastered the toes with wetsuit glue - works like a charm. Only problem is that it might be a little stiff - and it might not fit through your fins any more.

Regards,
RC

Hi SaSpearo,

If I get you right you cut the toes off of a set of old booties and glued them on the toes of another pair. Is that right?

Thanks for the suggestion,

Doug

Put the cutoff pieces over your toes and then a thin sock or you'll lose them when you take off the fin. I never tried glueing them in the fin.

No, I actually just put lots of glue on a pair of booties. Having two layers on your toes might be a little thick - I don't know. The glue insulates quite well, and you can cover the exact area that you want. Hope it helps !

Thanks for the help!

Hi,

Thanks for the help about the toe cups, its interesting to see what you have come up with. What I'm going to do is to get a pair of XXL 2mm socks and cut the toes off and glue them onto my existing booties, and use the rest of the sock as an over boot that will be positioned over the fin. I'll let you know how this works.

Thanks again,

Doug
