Tom Sietas rekordvideo

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Thanks !! Was looking for a dynamics video of Tom to learn from his stereo fins approach (which lately I have switched to as well)

Do you know of a video of his DNF attempts ?

wow he swom for over 4 min.... :hmm I sometimes have a hard time doing 4 min in static...
Is this crazy or what?

Yeah and thanx for the links..

It is amazing how slow he was swimming too!

I was read on his homepage that it comes more in the future

Best wishes from Hungary, Balázs

Actualy the dive took ~3:06min if you check the video. Still very slow indeed but fits his static abilities.
The trick is to find the right balance between speed and effort that feels good for you. I don't believe there is a general optimal speed but rather a specific speed for each person/fin(s) combination. Some go for fast and powerfull , others for very slow and relaxed. You have to experiment with all approaches to find the right one for you rather then go for what your mate or coach is telling you is the right way to do it.

Myself after 1.5 years of messing around with different speeds and materials and meager results trying to imitate what most people are doing have now finally found MY combination , which is also veeerrrrryyyy slow (55 second to 1:05min per 50 meters) with stereo (or no-) fins.
This way the dive looks in almost all aspects more like static , which I can do reasonably well. Especialy the slower onset of breathing reflexes/contractions I can handle much better then the kicks in the gut I get when i go faster.

Uuups... I forgot about the minute of packing :duh before the dive . Guess i was to excited..
I have also a very slow style... about 50s for 50m. Thats something like Sietas is doing in the video, but the time is the problem... :hmm
Hes avesome... he just keeps on swimming... crazy

Was this a comp or a record attempt and in the dynamic was the distance 187m. Also check out that monster neck weight. :duh Are neck weghts allowed in comps for pool disiplines?

This was a competition (Berlin Night of Apnea).
Neckweights are allowed for pool comps and lots of people are using it. Helps a lot with obtaining perfect nuetral buoancy.
Not yet for deep event, but is planned for the next change.

Have you ever tried to download a 23 MB video without DSL? :waterwork

AWESOME!!!!!

That is absolutely insane and the most impressive thing is how calmed he came up at the end.... AMAZING
