Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to let everyone know that I've set up a Monday Pool Night at the Toronto Pan Am Pool for freedivers to come to practice. You can sign up for a monthly pass or come as a drop-in. Registration needs to happen 24hrs before the pool session so the pool has a guestlist to allow participants entry. The goal is to help other divers with regular practice and to provide a safe community for freedivers in Toronto.

I'm so jealous that you get to do this! The pools in my area don't allow breath holding or any underwater swimming. How were you able to arrange this without push-back from the "safety-nannys"?

Not to make you jelly but our first night was great!

I haven’t had any issues yet with booking a pool. I have insurance as I’m an instructor and own a dive shop. Where abouts are you? Let’s see if we can get something going in your parts!

Thanks! I live in Annapolis, MD. If you have any ideas on how to make this real, I'd love to hear it.

I’d start with approaching dive shops. Scuba shops here rent pools and allow freedivers to practice in the pool with them.

Yep. Tried that with two scuba clubs. The answer is no, because of liability.
That’s weird. Maybe the insurance is different in the states by my insurance covers both scuba and Freediving. But they could make people sign liability forms as well. Are there other scuba shops you could talk to?
