Tragic Loss of Rising Freediving Star

Thread Status: Hello , There was no answer in this thread for more than 60 days.
It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
I've just received the email from AIDA announcing the accident. I was myself in very little touch with the community in the last months, but this pushed me to come here, so that I can express my sincere condolences to the family, friends, and all fellow freedivers. I fear that this, to my knowledge first fatal accident during a competition, may have an impact on every freediver.

Rest In Peace Nick

My sincere condolences to the family and many friends, fellow divers, the safety team, medical help and all competitors who are in long island presently.

Everyone is shocked and upset.

Anxious for the full pathology and greater detail, both to aid with closure and so that we can learn from this tragedy.

Nick was a firm believer is diving safely and was passionate about what he pursued.

Just type his name into YouTube to get an idea of the man.

A tremendous loss.

My condolences to Nick Mevoli's family, Nick rest in peace buddy.

After reading all the news stories on Nick's untimely death I feel like I've known the guy. I am so sorry for him and my deep condolences goes out to his loved ones. Rest in Deep Blue dreams buddy. Rest comfortably.
