As some of you know, I have been having some medical issues that have put a halt to training for a good duration. Yesterday, I had another medical exam, a nice 2-hour test concerning my balance systems etc. After the test, I spoke with the specialist about freedive training and she recommended no diving as yet, due to balnace mechanisms still recuperating and not being fully up to par yet after being knocked out about 7 months or so back. I don't see the next specialist until December, but really want to get some decent daily training in. So, the issue, water is out of the question, so how best to train.

Is it better to do one CO2/O2 table a day and then practise dynamic apnea (dry-land) for about 45 minutes, daily for 6 days a week; this would total up to 6 hours maximum?

Or, would it be okay to do 3 cycles of a table daily, alternating CO2/O2 (as usual)?

Or, would a mix of both methods be better?

Or, none of the above, and just stick with one cycle of one table which I have been doing pretty much up until now? Although sometimes for fun, I have done an adlib 1 and a half hour session of apnea, continually varying the hold and ventilation times...and somehow managed to hit a 2:00min hold after a 1:00 vent which is really good, since I normally used to do a 2:00 min vent for a 2:00 min hold.

All advice, ideas welcome...but like I say water is out of the question due to inner ear slightly off balance still and that would be dangerous.

Can't help on the training question as I 'm just getting started myself. You're feeling better though? That's great to hear. So maybe it's not really Menier's? If it was a self-limiting course maybe it was just a wicked bout of labyrinthitis. That would be really good news.

Best of luck.

follow your pace do some rest, diet, and training and you will go

^What a nice answer to make my position safe :)

Ok here is no bs answer, if it wasa so easy as I said first everyone will do it (if you those who believe in genitical condictions that are unalterated even by the gods another bs xD of course you begin at some biological point othewise you would be just vacuum) tables do them only with short rest times, normal CO2 don't have no effect at least in me and you gave your self such rest time betwwen apneas your co2 will activate I just use max atempt but I only do these twice a week no more at least for now in a foward time who knows

but of course if you want real improvments you have to train 25 hours a day bleed through your fingers and eat everything by the gram ;) otherwise or apnea will never past bellow 2 min. (just a joke to avoid serious posts about the common(useless answers I would say follow very carefuly your body signals bla bla bla yes this part true they the perfect barameter if you can read it correctly)

The reaon I'm feeling "better" is because I've been on medication since April. Meniere's isn't that cut and dried, some people have episodes every ten years or so, others days/weeks apart. And until I see the speicalist in December, who has the overall list of what's been occurring over the past few months, I won't know one way or the other, and I'm certainly not going to start second guessing anything. I'm feeling "better" but I do not feel 100%, and that's discounting the balance issue, but I refuse not to be able to do some training and am not putting my life on hold for anything.

Well, I already take my CO2 table rest time down to 15 secs, so I reckon that's short enough, although I have done some holds after just one inspiration between holds.

So, basically, do what I feel is right...so a 1 and a half hour session of ad lib apnea is fine, once in a while, and I'll just mix it up the rest of the time...will be starting again on Monday :wave

I think 15 sec is good and will bost your long sessions of apnea and separfishing lots of people have been using co2 table with shorter rest or just do a dynamic o2 table and they feel more confident in the sea trips ;)

There is a tremendous amount of information in the threads.
laminar and efattah have a lot of the information, and a lot of others have added their views
Some divers love the tables
Some hate them
Some think they are a waste of time.
Try them, and also alternatives, like wind sprints and walking apnea, and decide what works best for you.
it really seems to be individual.
Personally, I don't do them. I do wind sprints in a pool once a week (all out for 25 yd/m, rest 30 sec, and do it again. I Stop at 12.
I also do apnea walking.
There are a lots of alternatives out there.
The biggest thing to keep in mind is don't overtrain. You will be more likely to quit if you do.
