My friend and I whom recently started to train free diving and apnea mainly for spearfishing in the summer recently got to 50m in the pool, we were both happy with our progress. The question I was asking is how good is this as a beginner length? I am 14 and my friend is 16.

If you guys are having fun and watching out for each other in the pool and in the ocean then whatever distance you do is great as a beginner. For freediving your performance will be better if you compete with yourself and just let the accomplishments of other divers encourage you.
