Training session in the South Somerset / West Dorset / East Devon area?

Are there any Dorset/Somerset/Devon spearos and freedivers who would like to get together once a week/fortnight to hire a lane of a swimming pool (or even the whole pool if it's affordable) somewhere in the Yeovil/Crewkerne/Dorchester area?

I used to join in with a scuba club in Bury St. Edmunds when I lived near Ipswich, and they allowed me and a buddy to do dynamics at the side of the pool. Within quite a short time I had increased my breath-hold time to 4:10, and my dynamic pb to nearly 100m. I'd love to do this kind of training again, particularly in the winter.

I'd be happy to do the phoning-around of swimming pools and the organising, but I'd need to know that there would a big enough group to make it feasible.
 
Thanks Rebecca. Funnily enough, I was one of the early members of the Bristol freediving club back in 2002-2003, and it was a really good group.

Now however it's a bit too far to travel to Bristol for a pool session (nearly 100 miles round trip). I'm very envious though! Hopefully some people might come forward to set up a more local group...
 
I would have been interested in this Mister Lizard, but sadly it's a bit too far for me to commit to with any regularity. It would be a 70-115 mile trip depending on the location in the areas you proposed.

Safety reasons aside, from experience have you found that dive times/tolerance to CO2/ etc. naturally increase the more you head out to sea? does dynamic training, dive tables, supervised pool time etc. give the best gains?
 
Definitely - the more you are in the water the better.

I haven't done any proper training for many many years, and my breath-hold isn't as good as it was when I was freediving regularly. However, I always have a speargun in my hand when I dive these days, so my 1-2 minutes on the bottom is usually enough.
