Hi fellows,

I started freediving last year with AIDA and had AIDA**. Trained for about 3month then called it off.
This year started in March for about 2 month and stopped for two month for a surgery .then I started again in in July.

Now being serious about training for representing my country.

My Pb

Dynamic no fins: 35mt :)naughty,:(,:waterwork)
Dynamic with fins: 50mt :)o)
Static wet: 3.45 sec .:)o)
.
I found it really hard to go over 35m DNF,any advice ?
Is running for a long distance can improve my performance?,I'm working out 4 times a week.

Cheers.

Perhaps you need to work on swimming technique and CO2 tolerance. It seems like you could get much more distance with that static time.

Hey mate, yeah its been time doing only O2 for static, and not perfectly good at kicking "legs"

But do you mean CO2 only with static? Can I do it with dynamic?

Today had 1.30 min static late starting then I did 25 meter ,strange!

No, do CO2 with dynamic work (preferably swimming in a pool).

Hi King I am guessing here but an improvement in technique will probably pay off the most in the shortest time. Work out how many strokes it takes to do a 25m dnf and work on trying to reduce that, so ideally 3 or 4 at most kicks and arm pulls over 25m slow it down and use the glide. Experiment with a neck weight to see if that helps if not already using one as it will mean you wont be using precious energy trying to keep yourself down. Lastly try not to push too hard from the wall on the turn, a good push but not as hard as you can and then use that streamlined glide as far as you can before doing another stroke. never train alone.

Hi kd7
Do you train with the Auckland freediving club? (hi from Wellington btw)

I'd be careful about doing too much cardio as it can have the opposite effect you want to achieve with your freediving, especially if you are training for half or full marathon. Don't quote me on that, but from what I have read so far, endurance training for things like running and cycling may impede diving performance.

Also, get someone to film you under water. I did this recently and it was so helpful. I got to see what I was doing wrong and has given me something to work on. I also had some isssues with my kick and with streamlining, and as a result have changed my technique. So I really recommend this as a training tool.
