Hi guys,
I'de like to backup my waypoints ( GPS garmin 72 ) and transffer them to my computer. I have the map sourch software and the specific cable.
Can someone describe how to transffer the waypoints from the GPS to the computer? I heared there's a link in the net with step by step instructions of how to do it so if someone can share the link here I'll realy appriciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Menny

load the map source program. plug the unit into the computer while the program is running. at the top of the screen you will see 2 little icons that look like little handheld radios(or gps units) each with little arrows next to them. one of the little arrows points TO the little gps, one points AWAY from the little gps icon.
if you are loading the waypoints from the unit, then you want the little icon with the arrow pointing away from it. it will bring up a little window that will ask you to select which unit to select, etc....
ps: how did you get a computer cable for a gpsmap72?
i have one of those as a backup, it never gets used, but i thought there wasnt a cable to connect that one. it has 4 little prongs on the back? right? not mini usb?

Hi jtkwest, thank you for your replay. My friend build it, he works in an electronic lab. It has 3 little prongs. I attached a foto of it, hope you can see it.
My best,
Menny.
