What is the best way to travel by plane with your longfins without checking them in (carry on) Put them in the hang up locker? Take them apart?
Thanks for the info.

I don't know what's the best but I know what I did for 8 months travel with my OMER's: I took the blades out and slided them in the back of the backpack (70-90liter one) where there's a rigid back system and put the footpockets inside just like another pair of shoes. The blades were a little longer than the back system but it didn't seem to matter when the backpack was full.
My fins were safe and I was calm.

I also take the blades out and carry them in their special fins hand bag as hand bag luggage, I include the mask in the bag and at the counter I always tell them that they are my diving blades-extremely delicate sports equipment- and they don't seem to care. This way you can board the plane with your normal allowed hand luggage plus the fins bag.

You will have to repeat the same story again to the officers while crossing the gates where they check you, some times they like more chatting and explanations about the ''misterious shining-sharp-look-like-metal- blades'' but everything went well so far.

The foot pockets go in the suitcase/ check in luggage.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

Roberto

If you want to put them in checked luggage, something that has worked for me is to cut a piece of plywood to match the blades and put it between them, wrapped with duct tape.
