Confused:

I have spent the last few weeks reading numerous reviews of freediving and spearo suits.
I think I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted: A slick, fast, elastic, warm, cool looking, reversible, virtually indestructable affordable custom made 5mm suit.

It would primarily be used for dynamics, but it would be nice if I could surface-swim with it (flexible) and use it for the
occasional scubadive (rugged). Camo would be nice for stealth underwater photography.

Suits on top of my list were:

  • Elios smoothskin out - superelastic in: Was suggested on a forum as a reversible suit but not according to Elios.
  • Elios smoothskin out - nylon stretch green inside: only reversible suggestion I received, smooth but not too elastic...
  • Marea sharkskin mimetic - extremely cool suit, webpage claims it it a fast suit, forum users claim it drags and fizzes.
  • Diveskin Green Abstract camo - nice looking suit, is it fast, easy to get into, warm, well cut, reversible when opencell?

Suggestions and advice are highly appreciated!

The thing you're looking for is called.............miracle! :t
But if you don't believe in miracles, I'm afraid you won't find what you're looking for.
A 5 millimeters will be too thick for dynamics, a smoothskin will not be indestructable, etcetera etcetera.
You may find a compromise (3mil?) but still it will be a bit too thick for pool and colder than a 5 mil. You must buy at least 2 suits, live with it. A slick, skinny one for pool and a decent open cell in/nylon out for the sea.
These are my humble 2 cents.
Here you may find tips on suits for dynamics. http://forums.deeperblue.com/wetsuits/81721-skin-dynamics.html

don't know how relevant it is but i'm sure that Beauchat used to have a good reversible suit in their catalogue. I have a feeling that Dave (BSA chairman) uses one but i could be wrong!

Yes, a member in Freedive Toronto has that suit. According to him, it works great.
