U.S. diver caught underwater during tsunami

It can take a long time to get an up-to-date response or contact with relevant users.
Our Canadian embassy in Thailand did the same thing to some of our citizens: demanding payment from people with no money or passports. Embassy employees have always been, in my opinion, the most overpaid and useless government employees that exist. The ONLY time when they could possibly be considered useful would be during a crisis...unfortunately some of them don't seem capable of handling a crisis or making decisions about 'grey areas' without consulting someone back home as to whether they should bend a rule and actually help the people that pay their overinflated salaries....Whew! Long rant.

I have to say that a friend of mine got a similar disgraceful treatment from the Israeli embassy!

i can't believe it????? What is the point of holding a passport where in it, it says that your country promises to protect you? I guess we should look for the small print where the charges are listed.
