Hi, I had a shore dive off the Yacht club at Bognor Regis yesterday and was surprised to see a striped 'wrasse looking' fish wish I have not seen before. It was roughly 750g-1kg with black stripes running down its sides. It was alone (as far as I could see) amongst the other fish circulating around a small pinnacle/flat reef. The black stripes were quite prominent and he came up very close with all the other pollock and wrasse.
Firstly using the UK Sea Angling site here I found the drawing of the Comber to be about spot on : -

Using google I think the best pic to what I saw is here : -

Anyway...it made a nice difference in the 2-3m vis....(was not interested in spearing it though!!!)

Regards

:) Nar – that was just an Shane Warn Wrasse feeling very sorry for it’s self :waterwork

Sounds like a Black Bream Brett which is very tasty indeed. All muscle will scrap like hell when shot aswell.Sounds like a nice size too :p :p Oh well maybe next time. rofl rofl

...Hey Glowworm, I am not convinced it was a Black Bream, as we get plenty of bream species back home and I have been avidly viewing all the pics posted waiting for a UK one! He would have been in my freezer if it was!

That's why I did not shoot it, as I did not know what it was and this Comber is really what I think it was.
Interesting.

P.S Your first delivery staged a mass breakout last night...they used the pump cable to escape. Most recaptured but for about 2. Right now they are giving new meaning to the words "FREEZE SUCKER!!!"rofl New inmates have arrived.;)

Oh well i stand corrected on the fish front.Like you say very intresting.

Nice to hear the jail is full of tasty inmates sheriff rofl rofl No tasty marine aquatic creature has much chance of escaping you chap. rofl
