I am interested in purchasing a nice full wetsuit for myself for snorkelling. I have the intentions of starting up scuba and freediving (More than likely I will prefer to spearfish and just generally 'apneatically' observe the underwater scenery than try to see how far I can dive so I am posting in this section) so would like it to satisfy my early dives in the spearfishing or free diving world until I feel the need to purchase a more suitable suit. Basically I want an general-purpose uk dive suit.

I originally wanted to purchase a budget 7mm wetsuit (Then get gloves boots and hood) for UK diving that I could then start to use for my first scuba dives and then I could continue to use it for spearfishing but I was told that I should look at semi-dry instead, however for scuba in the UK I will inevitably one day purchase a drysuit.

Is semi-dry a good option for UK freedive and spearfishing?

I have been looking at the Waterproof 5mm Lynx semi-dry (Not the most camoflaged obviously but i'm not worried about that yet) is this an ok general purpose suit for uk

Would I be better off just buying a really cheap wetsuit so I can then do my own custom DIY paintjob on it if I feel the need?

basically, what are your opinions on getting my first general purpose wetsuit to help me get into the sport before deciding to fork out a large amount on 'built for purpose' suits?
