Hi,

I am a water lover/scuba diver/ forager / seafood enthusiast turning my passion for fishing and holding my breath and swimming to FreeDiving and Spearfishing.

I live in Worthing, Sussex, UK - I have read a few threads on here and now have some ideas of some good spearfishing grounds to start with - do you have any others nearby worthing?

Whats a comfortable wetsuit thickness for UK waters?

I know you need no liscence to spear fish in UK, but are there any rules of thumb to stick to, especially with the public etc.?

Got a bunch of Questions - anyone local (or not) to me here willing to share some advice??

Mate, I'm new to this forum. Not sure exactly when you posted this, but did you get any answers? If so, what thickness wetsuit are you using? I still cannot find answers if a 5mm or 7mm is appropriate for UK

I'm also new to the forum and needed those exact questions and many more answered. I'm yet to make a single post because literally everything is on the forum already if you search for it.

I can tell you that practically everybody wears a 5mm suit year round, unless you are very skinny or feel the cold badly, or from a tropical climate or something.

I've also learnt that the nearest place with decent diving is probably Dorset and the further East you go the worse the vis gets, and that nobody really dives further East than Seaford and there's no diving at all in my county of Kent.

I just read the Devon/Dorset/Sussex threads from start to finish, from years gone by as well. Everything people are willing to tell you about places to dive are in those threads I reckon so have a pen and paper to hand and Google Earth open. Any other great sites us noobs will have to explore for ourselves, there's only so much detail people will go in to and info they will share, but that's half the fun IMO.

Thanks to everyone that post on this very friendly, and unbelievably informative forum. I know so much more now than I did a few weeks ago when I joined.
