A friend of mine just sold me one of these:

www.airsoftpark.com/molle-extended-full-gear-dual-rifle-backpack-black-p-2907.html

It's a rifle backpack. Mine is not the same manufacturer, but identical
In design and dimension.

It's awesome!
My longfins leave the footpockets sticking up above the bag and they don't fill the narrow bottom 6" of the compartment, but it still works extremely well!!

As a bonus, the dimensions of the bag itself are pretty much aligned with most carry-on dimensions for airplane travel.

You could fit a couple of masks, a wetsuit, towel, weightbelt and all of your other essential gear in here easily.

The shoulder straps are very well padded and the waist-strap is excellent at distributing the load for extended hikes to get to dive spots.

The one I have appears to be very high quality in terms of materials and zippers.

It's by far the best travel / mobile bag I have found. I hope to be able to travel to warm places with JUST this bag as carry-on for all my stuff, beyond just my dive gear for vacations. :D

Happy to have found this rifle backpack bag. Its a real gem!

I have been and will continue to use a MEC.ca XL mesh duffle bag for general transport of all of my gear throughout the week / for pool use, etc and have been making due with it for travel, but it's not the easiest on longer hikes.

The MEC mesh bag is awesome for drying equipment and I have put it through its paces for over a year with no sign of it wearing or letting up. It holds a TONNE of gear in the largest size and I'm sure I've had 60-80lbs in it a number of times. Super high quality / durability.

+1 for the MEC bag. I dragged one of those across Africa and it's still going strong!
