This might be a bit of a stab in the dark but its worth a go.
Does anyone have any experience of shopping for Underwater camera housings in Bangkok? ive got a cannon IXUS 500 and was thinking that i might get a good price on housings there. but i dont want to get there and find nothing and be without!
Any help is greatly appreciated>
Cheers

Gary.

Heya

Just came back from a thailand holiday, having spent 3 days in bangkok looking for exactly that! I didnt find much to be honest, and what I found was not especially cheap. Make your way to the MBK centre - I think the 3rd or 4th floor was covered in camera and electronic equipment stores. Having said that, never went to any diving shops so you might find something worthwhile there

Now now... I get the feeling someones joking me about! I am no stranger to Bangkok and have heard all about Soi Cowboy!! not for me, but thanks for the tip!;)

Seriously though... atomichaggis I cant seem to access the link in your message but will check Sukhumvit rd.

Also...rbotes, did you get any diving done on your holiday? any recomendations? (diving or non diving)

Cheers.

Gary

Well if You don't like cowboy there is always nana plaza :D
I think the best dive shop is up by the emporium shopping mall on sukhumvit rd.

I'm sure I saw a housing at Bangkok airport a couple of months ago. Gary if you've got a Canon Ixus 500 then there should be a Canon housing for it. Google Ixus 500 underwater housing and it should come up with something. Grab the model number and get looking. That's how I scored mine. I ended up getting it at a dive show for about £130. Canon housings are pretty decent, rated down to 40m.

Cheers,
Ben

Diving was awesome - ended up going to Koh Samui - I'd never dived in thailand before, but can highly recommend making your way to Koh Tao - tons of good sites around (Sail rock being one of them - good indeed!)

I'm not too sure but I think the weather and vis only really get good again mid december after the oct/nov monsoon season...dont quote me on that though!
