anyone have any stories to share? :)

yesterday i was freediving outside of a marina, watching a school of young jack crevalle feeding in the sand, all of a sudden, something from under the sand came up, grabbed one of the 4 inch long fish, and dragged it under the sand whole ! well, i decided to investigate closer, and went down and started poking at it with a stick (fair ammount of waterlogged wood around on the bottom) and couldnt feel anything under the sand.. what sort of creatures would be able to do something like that anyways?

rofl good one.

The strangest thing I've seen under water, skipping over commonly found objects (grenades, firearms ammunition, cell phones, tyres, chairs and tables, cars and trucks) was an experience with a fish in a lake.

Fish was an adult american black bass (I'd say a largemouth) which I speared to eat it (tastes delicious). When I shot it in the gills, he stretched his mouth wide open and a school of small fishes sorted out: they were his children, that he was hiding in his mouth to protect them from predators.

I didn't know this thing before, and at that moment I thought it was just bait he was chewing. But then I read my fish book and discovered this kind of parental care performed by that species, the waste I had done, and felt guilty. But I learned THE lesson from that episode. :naughty

Several years ago I found four notes (50,000 Italian Lira each), laying one beside the other :)))

Could it be a stargazer? I've seen a couple of them pretty much under the sand, they be crazy looking.

OK, .......you got me!!! I have to sneak up on them because.............

Here's one. A buddy and I were scuba diving off the beach in Ft. Lauderdale when out of the blue this shaggy haired guy came swimming bye out of the blue. He was pail white, skin and bones, with just mask/snorkel, kahki shorts, and fins. He swam across our vision from left to right 15 feet away, looked at me, waved, and swam back off into the blue. We were far enough and deep enough out that you wouldn't normally see a swimmer. I was a little taken back by it.

After the dive I asked my buddy about it. He didn't know what I was talking about. It was so close I thought for sure he had to see it. I thought he was screwing with me but he didn't see anything. By now I was a little freaked out. This put a real dent in my diving in that area for awhile. I swore up and down that I saw a ghost.

Almost a year later I was loading up at that spot after a dive. That guy I saw was rinsing off at the shower. I felt like a fool and relieved at the same time. You could say this was my first encouter with a freediver!rofl

As an aside another buddy of mine was diving the "Mercedes" and said he heard kaleidoscope music.
