Im looking to upgrade my gun, to something I can hunt all freshwater fish, and still be able to shoot medium sized fish in the ocean. So Im thinking about buying a 53" JBL 3 rubber, sawed off magnum, or possibly the 42" version. Any thoughts? sorry for so many new threads today.

I went with a single band Euro gun. I like the style of the euro guns and the single band. I wanted a 75cm, but ended up with a 90cm. The shop will have a 100cm Omer HF2 LE in soon . I also just ordered a 55cm Cayman Cave for the days with less vis. I'll put a Dyneema wishbone on it too. Very quiet!

Whopperhead has had good luck with the JBL's.

I'm not sure what your price range is either.

Fleshy - I've got several JBL's and I love them- but not for PANFISH- the spears are too big and put a nice size hole in them. I would recommend a 75cm but nothing bigger than a 100cm. Euro style gun. Usually thinner shafts 6mm or 6,5mm. Great for carp down to bluegills with a small whole. I like the wood guns, but If you got the money go carbon. It's nice when your messing with getting the fish off to have your gun float. 75cm is ideal for MOST Wisconsin Waters. See what ILDiver has in a 75cm carbon. But that is just MY recommendation.

Ditto with what everyone else said- 75cm Euro gun.

If you just want to go after carp than a short Pneumatic might be in your future, but for panfish and rough fish it's hard to beat a Euro.

I have a custom made mid-handle gun with a camera mount on it that I like a lot, but for the price a Euro gun is the way to go. the closest commercially made gun to mine would be a Riffe MT-0, but that's not wood and costs quite a bit more.

75 or 90cm Euro has my vote. The advantage of a JBL though, is that you can take 4 lbs of your belt, and you can get a good workout on that one arm as you resist the need to 'rifle' such a neutrally buoyant gun >8^(

This thread should retitled and made sticky. Along with "What wetsuit should I get for this area" Maybe a general info thread about the gear we generally use for newcomers down the line?

Maybe I'll start a "sticky thread" and call it 'Gear for wisconsin'
