Any one in the ogden/salt lake city area need a training partner? I just had my first freedive experience at blue lake. And I am hooked like a planter on power bait. For non-utahn's Blue lake is a geothermal pond in the middle of the nevada desert. (snowing dry, 71 degrees wet)

Yes, I am in Salt Lake and I am just barely getting into Freediving and I need a partner. My wife and friend are interested as well, but still unsure. Send me a message!

you've got an almost ideal freediving training spot not so far away.. at the Homestead Crater. it is all setup with lines and platforms + the water is a toasty 90+ deg. The altitude is a little bit to deal with... makes the 65' hole feel deeper. Another plus is for snorkeling/swimming you don't have to pay the scuba divers fee.. still have to pay.. just not as much.
Good luck in your quest for the deep.

vis is an average of 15-25 feet, and 55 feet deep. But supposedly it can get horrible if you have alot of people in one area because of the silt on the bottom. I have never been in it, just heard about it from people and read about it. http://utahdiving.com/divesite.htm This site has reviews about alot of the lakes in Utah, as you will see it was mainly done by/for Scuba though.

what kind of training are you doing? I am maily doing dry dynamics, and lots of cardio. I need to wet train harder, and safer. Do you have a decent pool in slc? I am not opposed to a weekly training drive. The invite to the crater, is open. April 8. I work a ton, but will be in touch.

I am just doing dry static and will be starting dry dynamic in the next week. There are several pools that we could pay to use, and I have a couple neighbors who have pools that we could use for free, obviously they won't be the size you find in a school. It would be nice to train with someone who has some idea of what they are doing, because right now I am just stumbling through trying to apply what I read.

Sounds like we are in the same spot. What is you're schedule like? I work swing shift mon-fri 3:00pm to 3:30 am (friday is optional, weekends are wide open) when summer gets here, I will be diving somewhere almost every weekend. Have you got freedive fins, mask, ect. yet? I haven't got a suit or a dive watch yet, but it is only a matter of time. It would probably be easier for me to come down there. let me know, we will try to set something up. What kind of statics are you hitting? I haven't done one in months, but my pb is 3:30. The Dynamics are a @#$^%$@.
thanks fogish.

I work from 6:45 AM to 3:30 PM mon-fri. I am just finishing my list of gear and then putting in my orders at appropriate places, so I should have it all within 2-3 weeks tops. I am just doing the basic O2/CO2 tolerance tables with 1 min. as my base number instead of the 2 min. that they post here, I will be bumping that up to 1:30 next time since one minute doesn't even make me uncomfortable now. I started out really cautiously, but I have been reading more and I will be a little more agressive with the dry statics. I have no idea what my pb is, I haven't even tried, I just figured I would get some training in and once I could do the 2 min. static table then I could see what my pb was.

Fogish, sorry haven't posted in a while. I have a ton going on the next two weekends. Trying to wrap up the ski season, etc. Maybe the weekend of the 15th we could setup a training session. Unless you want to hit the crater with us on the 8th, we currently have a group of 4 or 5 planning on 10 am. If we pick up a couple more we would have the place to ourselves. keep me posted. How are the co2 tables coming? I am starting tonight. I hope it helps with the dynamics. Have you had a chance to practice equalizing? My first trip out that was my limiting factor. thanks.
