I have no idea how many people from Utah are on here, but I thought we should have a little thread to organize things together and for people coming to Utah to be able to have a thread to get information from. On www.utahdiving.com they have just started a spearfishing section. Here is the list of dates they plan on going out as a group:

June 16-17th Nationals @ deer creek
June 24th Starvation
July 8th Flaming Gorge
July 22nd Fish Lake
August 5th Kens lake
August 12 Starvation
August 26th Fish Lake
Sept 9th Deer Creek
Sept 23 State Champ Meet Flaming Gorge

Maybe we can pick a few times to go meet up together and hunt, they will probably be using scuba gear, and will most likely welcome us. If anyone wants to go to other lakes, or other times let's figure that out and go have some fun. My wife, my friend and I are going to East Lake in a few weeks to have a little crawdad and freediving party. I will let everyone know how it was and maybe we can get together with friends and family and just have a saturday or sunday party: fishing, boating, freediving, and collecting crawdads. No reason for us not to go out to the lakes just because friends and family don't dive.

If you can, get a copy of the Utah fishing proclamation and become familiar with the laws. http://www.wildlife.utah.gov/proclamations/2006_fishing/2006_fishing.pdf

I just thought of a few more things: If you are going to go hunting and fishing more than 3 times or more than one consecutive set of 7 days, it is cheaper to buy a 365 day pass @ 26 dollars.

According to the proclamation under the spearfishing section: "Carp may be taken from any water open to angling during the open angling season." So we can go hunting at just about any lake, but only for carp.

By east lake, do you mean east canyon res.? I like you're style keep it open and go with the flow, I will post all freediving adventures, and join as many as possible. I have a few bubbler buddies that are always up for an adventure.

Breath less live more

Yeah, east canyon res. since I don't live super close to it, I always knew it as east lake. Once I have a date and time, I will post it here, if you want to swing up go for it. We will just be diving and grabbing crawdads for dinner.

What's up utah spero's? Any freedivers planning to go to the tilapia comp at blue lake on wed? (may 17) Check out atlantis divers website for more info. Sounds like fun, and I am almost finished with my custom teak/carbon fiber pole spear. I've got to break my cherry some how.

I would be there if I had a few weeks notice, I can't be taking work off this quickly and it is hard to afford missing work as well. I will send them an email and see if they will contact me when they will be doing things on the weekends for the rest of the year, I will post it here whenever they update me.
