Hey guys, just wanted to share my latest video with y’all. I took a trip to the Gingerbread grounds with some friends a few weeks ago, and this video was shot on the trip. All in all it was a pretty epic trip. Our crossings both there and back from Matheson were really nice and smooth. On our first day, I speared what would have been a world record Midnight Parrotfish if I would have known what the record was and not cut the fish up :pissed::pissed:. It was my first trip over to the Bahamas, and I have to say that the spearing there was as epic as everyone kept telling me it was! We ran to the Gingerbreads, which are 35mi NW of Bimini, as well as about 40mi South of Bimini along the drop. The spearing was definitely better in the Gingerbreads, and I would HIGHLY recommend it to any of you guys!

I also got an opportunity to test out the Keller Aquatics ‘Big Killer’ Pole spear in the Gingerbread grounds, 35mi NW of Bimini. When I picked up the Big Killer from Karl, my first impressions were that it was definitely a big boy pole spear. This 10’ behemoth has the speed and reach to pop those spooky muttons over the grass, as well as the mass to penetrate the biggest Black Grouper. I was worried that a pole spear that size was going to be slower than the other pole spears on the market, but after shooting it the first day, that concern was immediately put to rest. The heavy band that comes with the KA Big Killer adds all the power that you’ll need to take big fish at long distances.

I had the opportunity to use a lot of other pole spears during this trip as my buddies had all different sorts of spears. If you’ve been to the Bahamas you know all too well how bad of a beating your gear gets. After the 2nd day of spearing, we only had 3 working pole spears, including the KA Big Killer. I have to say that I was never worried about breaking the KA Big Killer, and was never worried about putting it through the abuse that would have broken more fragile pole spears. I shot the Big Killer into the rocks, backs of ledges, and even into a sponge on accident and the hardened steel slip tip did not ever lose its point!

After shooting a TON of fish with the KA Big Killer Pole Spear, including a potential World Record midnight parrotfish, I can confidently say that I would highly recommend checking out Keller Aquatics if you’re in the market for a high quality pole spear that will take the abuse of those big Black Grouper! Karl is a great guy to work with and I’m sure he’ll be more than happy to answer any questions and address your concerns!
