Went scooter free diving on the wreck of the Castor in 110 ft. off Boynton Beach Saturday. I had heard there can be up to a couple of dozen goliath grouper or jewfish on the wreck. May have seen a dozen on the last dive. Was taken out on the Undersea Explorer .

Anyone have problems with these big guys inhaling diver body parts, like heads? Have heard of that sort of thing in the past.

Great vid Ricki. Lovely vis and a great looking wreck. I hear those goliath groupers have made such a come back that they are becoming a nusiance. I saw some talk of a limited take being allowed on some Florida angling mag's. They certainly are fantastic looking creatures.

Do you have any links for pics on your harness/scooter set up?

Dave.

Thanks Dave. I hear from some spearfishermen they are more concerned about goliaths than sharks when they shoot. The goliaths end up with the fish at times. Yes, they are impressive to see. The viz actually wasn't that good, the GoPro WIDE gives the impression of better visibility as a rule. It was about 50 to 60 ft.. With the top of the wreck at 60 ft. and bottom at 110 ft., the divers drifting, it made free diving setup on the small part of the wreck with the goliaths tricky. A lot of guesswork really particularly without SCUBA exhaust to judge from. Then again, if there were SCUBA divers there, the goliaths likely would be absent!

Some shows up in the video. More info appears at: [ame=http://fksa.org/showthread.php?t=4615]VIDEO - Deeper Scooter Free Diving The Cayman Wall - FKA Kiteboarding Forums[/ame]

I really like the sit on top feature that Apollo provides. Got a close look at X-Scooters sit on top adapter setup at DEMA. Will put up some photos of that during the last installment that I am planning for the show soon.
